Accessibility statement

Our commitment to a website that everyone can use, and how to reach us with feedback.

Our commitment

DRAKA Labs is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, regardless of ability, device, or connection. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing part of how we build and maintain the site.

What we do

We design and build the site with accessibility in mind, including:

  • Clear, consistent structure with proper headings and landmarks so screen readers can navigate the page.
  • Full keyboard support, so the menus, search, and forms can be operated without a mouse.
  • Visible focus indicators that show where you are on the page.
  • Text alternatives for meaningful images, and decorative images hidden from assistive technology.
  • Colour choices and contrast intended to keep text readable, in both light and dark preferences.
  • Responsive layouts that adapt to phones, tablets, and larger screens, and reflow when text is enlarged.
  • Reduced motion for people who prefer less animation, following the system setting.
  • Form fields with associated labels and clear error messages.

Known limitations

We are still improving. Some third party or embedded content, such as maps, may not fully meet our accessibility standard, and older documents may vary in quality. Where you meet a barrier, we will do our best to provide the information you need in an accessible form.

Tips for using the site

You can search from any page. The search opens with a keyboard shortcut, Command K on a Mac or Control K on Windows and Linux, and can be closed with the Escape key. You can move through suggestions with the arrow keys and select with Enter.

Feedback and contact

If you meet an accessibility barrier on this site, or you need information in a different format, please tell us. Your feedback helps us fix problems and improve. Contact us through the contact page, or write to DRAKA Labs, Department of Computer Science, University of Ghana, Legon, Accra, Ghana. We aim to respond to accessibility requests promptly.
