Biography
Ibrahim Kwaku Gyimah is an MSc Data Science researcher at the University of Ghana whose work bridges life sciences, medical entomology, Artificial Intelligence and public health data science, combining biological research with modern computational methods.
He holds an MPhil in Entomology from the University of Ghana and a BSc in Applied Biology from the University for Development Studies, and is currently pursuing an MSc in Data Science at the University of Ghana.
He has authored three peer-reviewed research papers on malaria mosquitoes and insecticide resistance, providing him with substantive domain knowledge in malaria-vector biology before his transition into advanced data science.
His current research investigates how multi-modal machine learning can combine genetic, biochemical, environmental, spatial and temporal data to improve disease-surveillance intelligence and support faster evidence-based public-health decisions.
His MSc research addresses insecticide resistance in Anopheles gambiae sensu lato, a critical challenge for malaria-vector control. Rather than relying exclusively on field and laboratory surveillance to identify resistance after it has emerged, his work investigates whether machine-learning models can combine multiple forms of surveillance data to estimate resistance risk and provide earlier decision support.
At DRAKA Labs, Ibrahim contributes a distinctive capability at the intersection of AI, biological science, epidemiology, disease surveillance and public-health decision intelligence.
